Gina's Designs DT Project: Two-Story House

Happy Thursday!!  Today I have a "bird house" to show you using the 2 Story House from Gina's Designs. . After the house was assembled, I applied a coat of gesso to it. My next step was to extend the roof line. Since Gina designed it as a shadow box, the "back" side is made to be flat against a wall. I wanted to use it as storage and be able to turn it around to hide the inside. I took a piece of heavy card stock to make the overhang match the other side.
For the roof, I used the wider craft sticks and  several colors of ink to give it some dimension. The paper is from Prima's Lyric stack. The bird holes are wooden frames with black paper behind it. The metal filigree is from ButterBeeScraps. I took one large metal square and cut it into quarters. The perches are lolli-pop sticks and a metal flowers from CraftSupplies1.
The chipboard bird nest on the front roof peak has embossed eggs and an inked nest end
For the house light I took two of the lampposts and embossed them in black. While the black was still hot I sprinkled gold embossing powder into in. I also dulled the lamp down in spots to give it a more weathered look. The lit part of the lamp is velum inked in different shades of yellow. The velum was than sandwiched between the two lampposts. I attached it going off toward the side so I could see it no matter which way the house was positioned.
On this side of the house I have decorated three chipboard birdhouses. The house on the left is embossed with distressed embossing powder. The other two are stenciled. The roof, base and pole are painted. The bird hole is a black card stock. The grass line is three different colors of flower soft.
The tree is actually a branch. The truck and branches are painted and the leaves and grass are flower soft. The butterfly is fussy cut form my stash of paper.
The birdhouse on the roof peak is painted with a card stock circle. The bird is embossed in yellow. The inside is lined with the Lyric paper and paper from my stash. The attic back wall is painted. I then trimmed it out in flat back pearl strand from Suhafuha.
I plan on storing my flat back pearls and gems in my house. I wanted to also give you a few ideas of what else you could store in it. The bottom and middle shelves could house your paints. The middle shelf will hold up to nine of your Lindy's sprays. The attic has room to hold things as large as your distressed crackle paint.
Thanks for visiting my blog! I hope you have a great day.

Gina's Designs DT Project - Cards

Happy Thursday!! Today I have for you two cards I made for a double celebration this past Sunday; my mom's birthday and my niece's graduation from college!
For the first card, I took a piece of scrap paper, inked it with Walnut Stain and attached to the card base. I embossed the "happy birthday" and used my watercolor crayons on the balloons.I glued the "happy birthday" to the card and the balloons where attached with pop dots.
The second card is my graduation card. I first stenciled purple and yellow chalk to the card base.
The chipboard pieces were embossed before placing them on double mat. Both pieces of the mat were edged with ink. I attached all three chipboard pieces with pop dots.
I also took a small stamp that said "congratulations" and randomly stamped all over the front of the card. I used VersaMark - Dazzle for that. I know the pictures do not show it, but I did like the way it turned out.
Here is a look at them side by side!

Gina's Designs DT Project: Photo Collage

I'm back!! Sorry about the pause in posts, but I was finishing up my last semester of college. Thank you to Gina for letting me take some time off and to the talented team members for your support.

I was asked to make a display for my niece's senior recital at college (did I just type that, college?). She had a joint recital with her boyfriend ( is she old enough to have one of those?).

All chipboard pieces first had a coat of gesso applied and then different purples in different thicknesses.
Here is a close up of one of the treble clefs and the different embossing colors used.
While the embossing was still hot, I used a music stamp and stamped onto each of the letters.

I altered three binder clips for food markers.
